The National Cadet Corps (NCC)
History: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has its genesis in the ‘University Corps’, which wascreated under the Defence Act, 1917 with the object to make up the shortage of the Army.
Motto: The Motto of the NCC is ‘Unity and Discipline’ which was adopted on 23 Dec 1957. Inliving up to its motto, the youth from different parts of the country are gathered and moulded intounited, secular and disciplined citizens of our nation.
The aims of NCC as approved by MOD in Mar 2001 are as under:-
To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of
adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide
leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.
To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed
Forces.
Significance: NCC as an organisation has unified the youth, not only of our country, but has
made significant efforts to interact with the youths of other countries through YEPs, thus
expanding the scope of its training and the ultimate goal of Unity.
NCC Unit of ICV College: The NCC unit of the College has a long past history for its
community services activity including values and commitment to societies, presently the totalenrolment capacity is 105 including boys and girls and the fund allocation is through MOD, Govt.of India through the Commanding officer, NE-Regions.
